Finacea Medication - Uses & Side Effects

Generic Name: Azelaic acid

AZELAIC ACID (Azelex™, Finacea®, Finevin®) is used to treat mild to moderate acne or rosacea on the skin and generally other skin conditions. Generic azelaic acid skin creams or gels are not yet available. Finacea (azelaic acid 15%) is a topical gel indicated for the treatment of inflammatory papules and pustules of mild to moderate rosacea. The gel formulation of Finacea provides improved drug penetration compared with the cream formulation.

Finacea Dosage

The commonly dose of Finacea is a thin film applied twice a day, once in the morning and again in the evening.

Uses of Finacea

  • Finacea medication is used to treat a certain skin condition called rosacea. It also helps to reduce the number of inflamed skin lesions.
  • Azelaic acid mostly used to treat acne and rosacea.

Side Effects of Finacea

When you will used Finacea, the following possible side effects may occur. Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:

  • Increased skin redness
  • Severe skin rash, swelling, itching, burning, peeling, or stinging
  • If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:
  • Mild skin burning, stinging, tingling, dryness, or itching
  • Skin color gets lighter in areas where medicine was applied

Warnings and precautions before taking Finacea:

  • If you have any medical conditions then you should not used the Finacea medication. if you have an allergy to propylene glycol then contact to your doctor before using the Finacea medication.
  • Avoid all kinds of foods or liquids that can cause redness, flushing or blushing on the skin (e.g., spicy foods, alcohol, hot drinks).
  • Patients should be avoid the exacerbating factors include, such as hot or cold temperatures, wind, hot drinks, caffeine, exercise, spicy food, alcohol, emotions, topical products that can cause to irritate the skin and decrease the barrier, and medications that may cause flushing.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are using Finacea drugs then do not use any other drug without talking to your doctor, because drug interactions can result in unwanted side effects or prevent a medicine from doing its job. Avoid use of skin care products that may cause further irritation (e.g., cleansers that contain alcohol, tinctures, astringents, abrasives and peeling agents).

Overdose

If you feel the overdose is suspected then contact to your doctor immediately. An overdose is unlikely. However, if your skin becomes severely irritated, you should stop applying Finacea and call your doctor.
