Dentures are used by a dentist as a prosthetic device to replace a missing tooth or a couple of missing teeth in his patient’s mouth. They are basically fake teeth surrounded by soft tissues to support the teeth inside the mouth. There are many designs in which dentures are available in the market. They are generally removable but nowadays, permanent dentures are also available which are embedded into a person’s mouth through a surgery. Dentures helps a person to chew the food properly which he could not do with his weak teeth and hence helps in proper digestion of food. They also make the person feel that he is having any kind of tooth loss. They also help the person to speak and pronounce the words properly. There are partial as well as complete dentures available in the market. Those patients who have lost only some of their teeth can go for partial dentures to cover only those parts which were emptied by the tooth loss. If a person loses all of his teeth then he can opt for a complete denture which would cover the whole area of the teeth and make the person feel his teeth again. Dentures have one disadvantage that they have to be cleaned timely so that they do not decay or cause any further infection in the mouth.
